Welcome to wcohrc.com!

WCOHRC!!! West Central Ohio Hunting Retriever Club is the oldest hunting Retriever club in Ohio. We have been training and testing dogs for over twenty years. We strive to bring good friends and great dogs together in the same venue.

The WCOHRC was "conceived by hunters for hunters" to train and test our dogs in true life hunting situations. Those at our local level train for those real life hunting situations as well as basic fundamental training drills.
  • West Central Ohio HRC has been a charter member of the National Hunting Retriever Club, Inc since 1986.
  • Is affiliated with the United Kennel Club (UKC), Inc, the world's largest working dog registry.
  • UKC, Inc. licenses our hunts, maintains our retriever's points and awards the titles that our retrievers earn.
In the spring of the year WCOHRC holds our annual hunt test awarding ribbons, pride, and titles. We draw friends from all over the country to our tests. We always have a great time meeting new friends, and swapping stories with the old friends. While retriever training books and videos are helpful, training with a group of people allows you to meet others who have had, or, are experiencing the same training issues you are having. Plus, many of the people with whom you train will motivate you to improve the skills of your dog. All this training truly pays off when the ducks are circling, your heart is pounding, and your little buddy is shaking with anticipation to leap into the frigid water to make it's master proud.
We invite you to check back often to see what WCOHRC is doing. We would, also, like to invite you to come to a meeting or training day and meet people who have the same passion as you.

The Loss of Tom Rappold

04/21/1943 - 03/31/2010 Tom is a Marine and a father of two sons: Todd & Doug; One daughter: Sandy; One sister: Judy; Seven Grandchildren and best friends with a black lab: Beau's Casey Creek. He will be sorely missed by all. Tom was new to the retriever running sport. He really enjoyed training Beau. He often would train and get guidance from Bruce Shoup. In Fact, Bruce brought him to a training day last spring at the gravel pit across the street. He joined West Central HRC on the spot. He was a common face at all of the meetings. He was dedicated to the club and participated in every vote. He was entered in several spring hunt test this year, and was probably not ready. However; "I am going to run anyway I think it will be real fun". That is probably the attitude we should all have. Let's celebrate Tom's passing by making our passion for our animals FUN!!

Hunt Test

04-26-2010 This weekend was our annual hunt test. The rain was no fun at all.One test didn't get finished until 6pm. YUCK!
We had a wonderful banquet and a large turn out. The raffle prizes were great. Please check out the sponsors page and support those who donated.
We would like to thank all of our judges that sat through the horrible weather. I would, also, like to thank Carol and Rod Rombauer for judging. It was Carol's last time to judge. Thank you for your time and dedication throughout your career in HRC.
Congrats to Mike Murphy and Tierra Robinson on earning 500 points. Great Job.

Club Picnic

07-10-2010 The annual picnic will be graciously hosted by Rick and Marcia Campbell again this year. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
